Seasonal Concertinas: Exploring Micro Seasons with Accordion Books
A Creativity, Nature & Mindfulness Workshop
Sunday, April 26, 2026
2:00pm-4:00pm
At the North Carolina Botanical Garden

In this contemplative offering, we will slow down to notice subtle shifts in the current landscape. The framework of micro seasons will inspire our mindfulness practices and creative expression. Micro seasons are an alternative way of measuring time and of deepening our seasonal wisdom. They honor the transient nature of things, while offering comfort in nature’s rhythms.
We will use expressive watercolors, found natural materials, and writing prompts to map the ‘glimmers’ of the present season and house our reflections in a hand-crafted accordion book. Also known as a concertina, the accordion book with its small format and ability to expand and contract, is an ideal container for images and words informed by the unfolding season.
Our explorations will draw from contemplative practices, the expressive arts, and nature journaling. You will leave with a finished mini book as well as a renewed practice for attuning to seasonal rhythms.
No previous art or writing experience is required. All materials are provided.
Registration fee: $33
